The many noises of Eden

[Mom]
I've heard many things about how to prepare for being a mom and what to expect - lack of sleep, crying, eating, etc.
What I was not prepared for were the number of sounds that come out of my little girl. She has more notes than a piano, with many different ranges, styles, and they even come from every orifice. Just when I thought that I got all of them down, she
creates new ones. Here is what I have so far:
high pitched "hiccup" (sounds like a drunk female hiccup)
low pitched "argh" (like a pirate)
fast breathing followed by silence (that one freaks me out because I have to make sure she still is breathing)
"gurgle"
"hmm, hmmm, hmmm" - deep thought
panting (reminds me of my beloved, deceased pet)

And it's a hoot when she is in her active phase of sleep because added to the sounds are the following:
half a smile (again, like a drunk female)
eyes fly open and closed
lips smack a few times

Watching her in action is better than watching any tv show currently on...well, except for Lost. So next time somebody asks me what to expect with a newborn, I am going to add to that list of items that you get your very own noisemaker.

Picture below: The statue of liberty...in her early years.

Listening to the sounds of a baby is one of the most precious things in life.

Just don't belief anyone who tells you that you will be able to tell what her different cries mean. We still don't know what the different cries mean after 2 kids.
